The Story In 2011, Chesapeake Energy, Inc. officially announced their
discovery of a liquids rich play now known as the Utica Shale. Invited by Chesapeake to participate in what
could be the greatest supply of oil and natural gas since the discovery of
Marcellus Shale, CBC Pipeline officially opened another extension office, in Carrollton, Ohio, in October 2011.
By November 2011, CBC was awarded the bid on the
Kensington Pipeline. Although they already had
one job underway in Ohio, CBC could not have predicted the challenges they would soon face. Bracing themselves for the typical
frozen temperatures and snow of a northern winter, they instead found unsteady temperatures and a 30% higher-than-average rainfall for the season. Brandon Williams, CBC's Environmental and Safety Director, stated that his departments especially faced numerous challenges because of inclement weather they could not control. "But we met those challenges," said Williams. "We made it through it without anybody getting hurt." Read More>
